Earthquakes are usually thought of as spontaneous and naturally occurring, but tremors can also be caused by humans. Reservoirs,hydraulic fracturing, and other human innovations alter the stress and strains in the earth's crust. Induced Seismicity, alters a typical bathroom scale so instead of pounds, viewers see Richter magnitudes and descriptions. Viewers are invited to step right up (and on) to the scale. Rather than promoting self-consciousness about our own weight, the induced seismicity scale encourages consideration of the weight our consumption has on the world.
